yellow1053 New Member United States 23 Posts	Posted 03/16/2015 02:36 am I recently bought a handful of "foreign" coins, and found this WWII era coin, and as a matter of habit being a cherrypicker, I looked at it with a loop, and found doubling on united of United States of America. I was unaware of this error at this point, but did some searching on the web and found it to be an "Allen-9.05C" variety. Is anyone familiar with the "Allen" reference? I haven't been able to find out anything else including values, and would appreciate any input. thanks! Jim Report this Post to the Staff

The editor is Tom Culhane of The Elusive Spondulix in Union, NJ (rarecoin.com). Distributor is Ray Czahor of Cookie Jar Collectibles in Savage, MD. I'm unable to find the book at retail. This doubled die variety is not nearly as dramatic as 9.05b, but can still be identified with minimal magnification. There is a very slight doubling of "45" in the date, doubling of all of the letters in "UNITED", doubling of the letters "STAT" in STATES, and slight doubling of the letters "MER" in AMERICA.
