This 1977 cent seems to be slightly off center. You may notice where the rim of the coin is quite slender at the top whereas it becomes thicker as it approaches the bottom, even showing a double strike at the bottom. If the picture does not show this well, I can only say that in fact the coin has these characteristics. Is this a rare coin?

Not off enough to have any additional value, just worth 1¢.

We need to see pictures of the reverse to know if it is off center or a MAD (miss aligned die). To me it looks like a common cent not worth any premium.

What does the reverse look like? If the reverse is centered then the coin is MAD. And it isn't rare at all. If it is truly off center it still is very minor I doubt it would have much of a premium if any. You want to see the coin stay losing features like the motto or liberty or more once it starts getting into the layers and such then it starts to become rare and worth a premium

The coin's reverse seems to be well centered, so it must be the slightly misaligned variety described, and rather common as well; I take it.

Yes correct . If features start to fall off when you have a MAD coin then you got something that will bring a premium. Still a great learning coin

It is off center but not enough to add value

A coin is not an off center unless it is off by the same amount and direction on both sides AND part of the design is missing off the edge of the coin.
