thai-vic Pillar of the Community Thailand 1509 Posts	Posted 03/18/2015 10:13 am Having had another look I think there is sufficient room on the edge for CAROLUS IIIII (as opposed to CAROLUS V). And, as Petrus pointed out, I also now see REX ARAGON on the reverse. Charles V (Holy Roman Emperor) did have connections with Italy, as well as Portugal, Spain, Austria and the Netherlands. This coin is a Netherlands coin featuring Charles V and I'm struck by the similarity of the portraits. Report this Post to the Staff

Legend (in yours): Obv: CAROLUS IIIII RO IMP (Charles V roman emperor) Rev: ARAGO VTRIVS SICI + REX (Aragon and two Sicilies king) It had to be struck between 1520 (when he received the title of Holy Roman-Germanic emperor) and 1556 when he abdicated. v.
