Hi,
i just wanted to say hello since I'm new here... I'm italian, I say sorry in advance since my english is so bad. :/
I subscribed here 'cause there are 2 coins in my collection that are really unrecognizable for me... There are things written on them in a foreign language with different charachters, alphabet...
i hope You can help me with it!
Bye!

Ok, maybe I have understood what to do and I don't need the guide, but I will check that if I don't succeed. :)
Here I upload the front and back of these 2 coins I talked about, one is normal size, while the second is really so small..!
I hope You can see the pictures, but it's my first try, so don't hate me if it doesn't work. :)
It would be great if anyone can tell me what they are :)
Hear You soon!

Ethiopia, and almost certainly Thailand, respectively.
I don't know much more about them, sorry (just recognized the writing).

January1may is right about the countries. Hopefully I can find the exact types and dates.

#1 is a silver coin from the Kingdom of Ethiopia. Specifically, it's 1/4 of a birr from the reign of King Menelik II, 1897. Because Italy once conquered Ethiopia, it could have been brought back to Europe by a returning soldier. Very interesting.

#2 is from Thailand, 1 satang, 1944. 1 satang is worth 1/100 of a baht, which is still the currency of Thailand today. It is made of zinc. This coin is not very valuable but yours is in nice condition.

Thanks a lot!! That's great... I could not imagine that in such a short time they would have been identified... So, as far as I saw... The ethiopian coin's value should be around 10 dollars (the one sold on ebay is in very better conditions and the current bid is 17 dollars), while the one from Thailand should be evaluated around 8 dollars... am I wrong..?
About the ethiopian coin: sure Nalaberong, You are right... That must be the story of that! I remember that my father used to tell me stories about that historical period, and he knew someone (older) who went there to fight... How many memories come to my mind now...

Hello and welcome Elbarto.

I'm afraid the 1 satang will only be about $1.

As nalaberong says it is still the currency of Thailand so technically it is legal tender but you don't see them in circulation. Everything now is rounded up to the nearest 25 satang which is the smallest coin currently in circulation.

Thanks Thai-Vic, so that will be 1 dollar. By the way, was correct for the ethiopian coin an evaluation of 10 dollars, more or less..?

...and I would have to ask the last 2 things, 1 about three coins that I'm almost sure to be copies, and the second instead about a french franc from 1960... may I ask all these things on this topic...?

If you have already identified them but are just asking if genuine or not then maybe the World Coins and Commemoratives Forum might be a better place.

Your Ethiopian coin is quite worn so $8 might be a bit much to expect, maybe $5?
