Can't wait! Maybe when I get older I can be their currency expert.

Their currency expert (when filming, most times) IS very young, like Doogie Howser young. I believe he works for NGC... which is strange on why they didn't pull him in on the 1895? Mayne because it was already in an ngc slab?

I just watched it and it was actually a pretty nice cent. I got the question on the commercial break right.

Your smart for not watching it because when it comes down to it, it shortens your life span. You, will have a long life. But when there's a 1791 cent on it I'mwatching it.

I have got in arguments with other numismatists about their old man and chumlee silver rounds. Anyone not in the know in these 5-6 years ago they bought a huge silver stockpile and took a bunch of the silver and minted them into bullion rounds with the old man's image on the front. At the time Silver was at its all time high around $40 an ounce. They sold these rounds in the shop for $60 and when visiting there shop in 2010 I think I bought one of them. It had a markup on it of around $25 at the time but I was ok with it being a fan of the show and wanting one. Several years after minting the old man rounds they minted some chumlee rounds and through a pricetag of $65 on those rounds. I kind of want one for the set but not when they are charging $65 still when silver is well below $20 for a couple years now. So the argument I have had is some numismatists like to look down there nose at anyone that has bought these. But the thing is they still routinely sell for $70-80 on ebay and it really isn't that hard to recoup your money on them if you sell them in the right venue (you take em to a pawn shop yea your going to get fleeced). Some can't seem to understand that something only has value if we attach value to it. A 1791 cent would not have any value if no one wanted to buy it and there was no demand for them. The silver rounds from pawn stars actually hold value for the time being maybe the show goes off the air and no one cares and they just become another silver round but right now I could put mine on ebay and make a small profit on it very likely even though silver is less than half of when I purchased it.

totally. Anything, whatever it is is only worth what someone else is willing to pay or trade for it. The very basics of an exchange economy!

I think what they don't like about the the pawn stars "old man" coin, is the coin itself and gouging their customers. To me, I see a problem with it in the way that here we have these reality TV stars, not only making a profit from their show (getting paid for each episode) They're now gonna profit from their fans by charging a very high premium on a silver coin... Now if part of the profits went to some charity, that used 100% of the funds for the actual charity, I'd say fine! Maybe wounded warriors (I'm medically retired from military)... to me it's like the Kardashians putting out a coin, but their coin is perfume. These guys are nothing but pawn shop owners, who happen to be in the right place, and went on air at the right time of the boom of reality TV, where anything and everything was a show. Same with Kardashians, they're just some family who became famous because of the daughters exploits... now they have an empire of stores, and get paid millions for their TV show... a brand. I don't buy in to brands like that. Now don't take it like I don't think you should spend your money the way you want to spend it, I'm just stating my opinions is all. Heck I buy stuff if I told you on here you'd be like Wow... (I'm 33 and spent nearly $300 on a hot toys Batman figure for x mas for myself, as well as $250 for a joker one).

LOL I have no problem with that probably more than I would spend on a toy but I just came back from khols where I bought a playskool heroes R2d2 and Anakin Skywalker I also bought a clone trooper on Sunday and a yoda and a Obi Wan Kenobi on Monday.
My biggest expeditures is on triathlon related purchases if I spent as much on coins as I did that I would have a killer coin collection. I just bought a zoot zforce 3.0 wet suit, then there is my bike which is worth more than my car, registration fees, gear and what nots.

They're a business and have the God Given American Right to charge whatever the heck they want for they're merchandise? Gouging? Really, nobody is forcing anyone to purchase one of these coins. I mean really, with the prices of ANY item retail today is gouging. Now, would I buy one, heck no, but I certainly don't begrudge them the right to sell them for whatever they can get for them. It's their right. Remember, they can only profit from their fans if the fans continue watching the show and buying the merchandise. As soon as that ends, so will their ride. Until then, God Bless 'em. May they continue raking in as much as they can. As far as the charity thing is concerned, that's everyone's own business. I don't know what they do for charity and I certainly am not going to tell them what they should do with their money. I doubt quite seriously that anyone else would do any different if the roles were reversed. They've had good fortune and some good luck, good for them. Hopefully some day I'll walk into something like that as well..

So the guy wanted a couple thousand dollars for it and rick called in the expert and he said it could be worth $10,000 or $1,000,000. The guy lowered his price to $1500 or $1600 and rick offered 4 or $500. He did not accept it and said he had a friend who offered him the $2000 so he told rick that he would check and see if that offer still stands, rick then said that if not to come back with it and sell it. If you did see it tell me if my memory is correct! Also, did anyone else get the commercial break question right
