Hi AMAC,

Boy, these are hard to grade. I always look carefully at the eagle's upper wing feathers and shoulder area to spot wear. Your coin has definite loss of detail in this area. In terms of wear, I think it grades in the neighborhood of AU-50.

It might partly be due to lighting, but the coin surfaces don't look original. It seems very bright and shiny, yet the color is pale and washed-out-looking. I suspect it has been cleaned or polished. I see a bit of greenish residue at the tip of the eagle's shoulder and around the legs. There is similar green color showing in the design crevices. This could be leftover silver polish or some similar cleaning compound.

Are you looking to purchase this coin? I wouldn't be willing to pay much over bullion value. Just my opinion, of course.
