I prefer the circulated look for U.S 1 cent coins but only the nice shinny red cents when collecting Canadian coins....I do not know why but that is the way it is (my thinking is I love the old West stories and all the cowboys and Indians history....I like to think that my U.S coins where been circulated during this time in history). I also collect 50 cent pieces from Canada and only like the circulated look on those dated 1870 to 1936 then I only want the mint state ones after that date.

What about you guys and your sets?

When it comes to Indian Head cents and Wheat Cents I prefer Cherry Red!

Considering the cost of Red cents AND the fact that they will tone to RB over time (even in slabs) you are losing money buying Red coins.
My FE/IHC set (almost complete) is all RB and BN UNC's except for the CuNi coins; they don't get the color attribute.
My Wheaties are all raw except for the keys; I'm in the process of selling them off except for the keys.

I must say I'm not into copper but if you like circulated American old west coinage none is better than the Morgan dollar for the stories they could tell!

Most of the Lincoln & all of my IHPs are brown, mostly due to cost. I also like the circulated look. In a perfect world, I'd rather get UNC examples, but it's not really in the cards for me.

Almost all of my coins are circulated in the F-XF range. I like looking at MS coins, but I much prefer circulated silver coins in my collection. I don't collect copper coins though.
