Absolutely beautiful coin! Thanks for posting, I think that coin was perhaps the gem of the auction, in an sale that was stocked full of outrageo US coins

Rob, I have been collecting for about 3 years. I've in hand seen some beautiful coins, be it copper or silver. By far this example you've willingly shared to the community is by far the nicest coin I have ever seen. Thank you for taking time out of I'm sure your hectic schedule and sharing such a stunning coin. Cheers and congrats on achieving such a goal.

Gentlemen, when you buy a coin at a public auction it is a fact of life that others can find out what you paid for it. I was hoping that anybody interested in price would just go look and quietly leave it at that. I wanted this thread to be about the merits of the coin and not about people obsessing about how much it cost, but some people just cannot leave it alone. When you post your coin, I do not go running to the auction results so I can post how much you paid for it, or post WAG's about how much you paid, nor do I create posts speculating about your net worth. I merely ask for the same courtesy.

What an incredible coin! Thanks for sharing Bosox.

I'm curious how many Victorian Large Cents have graded 67 at ICCS? I know that it's not a grade they give out too often (on any classic coin).

Bosox just checked back in as we were away at the Las Vegas coin show and came across this thread. Just like to say that a month after the Landon Sale I am still in awe and drooling over the items ,including the pictured lot in this thread. In the end quality such as this is priceless. You are right most of the pieces, from your incredible piece to even the lowliest pieces in the Landon Sale had the look and we were ( all of us that were there ) all lucky to have been part of a landmark numismatic event in Canada. It was my pleasure to have the privilege of meeting you and okiecoiner .........that is priceless.

I really did not want to lock this thread, but for a good number of you, you really have no idea how annoying it is to do what you did to the original poster here. Rob (or bosox as we know him here), has probably dedicated the last decade or more of his hobby to researching Victorian large cents. This includes publishing several reference volumes on the series. I know Rob, and I can attest that this has been a real labour of love for him. These coins represent something special to him...

At the original poster's request, I am locking this thread. He wanted to delete it entirely, but I talked Rob into leaving the images here for you to appreciate what a coin like this truly means.

Without pointing any fingers, all I can say is "shame on you", next time, practice a little tact, this is the hobby of Kings after all...
