Looked up your coin on wildwinds.
http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/ric/..calla/t.html

I tend to think it is the RIC 83 and not the RIC 80 as the seller identified.

That being said, I don't even know what RIC stands for.

Based on the research I've been starting to do on Identifying Roman coins, RIC stands for Roman Imperial Coinage, and is a set of references to known Roman coins.

My paypal payment has finally cleared, so now we can see how long the coin takes to ship. The auction had said something about a couple days processing time, but I'm hoping that whatever the seller needed that time for got done while waiting for the echeck to clear and it will ship out today or tomorrow.

just a question. Don t you have to pay import taxes and VAT when you are importing something ?A few years ago , I bought a book on Egyptian scarabs in the USA ( $50,freight included) and I had to pay when delivered about €20 more. So it was my first and last purchase outside the EU. albert

For items coming to the US I believe that the coin should be under the value that will get hit with extra import tax.
According to this page the US won't charge if it is under $200, and also possibly for antiques over 100 years old they won't charge at all, although that one might depend on how the seller writes it down on the declaration form.

That isn't an official site so it could be wrong.

We are quite lucky in the U.S. as far as import charges... There are certain other countries where they get absolutely clobbered with import charges to the point that the cost of importing a coin from overseas becomes absurd... Brazil is first one that comes to mind, but there are quite a few other countries with prohibitive import charges...

It is a shame we can't get that already included 19% VAT tax refunded back to us Americans on top of the currency break.

To be honest, if all I had to do was travel to Germany to be able to get back that 19% VAT tax, I bet I could arbitrage that, along with some mason jars, into that private island I've been eyeballing.

Still haven't received my coin yet. ebay estimates delivery from last Friday till the day after taxes. Hopefully tonight. . .

How is the tracking information if any with it coming from Europe? Has yours made it through US customs yet, or is it one of the ones where they never seem to update the tracking between it hitting the border and getting to your house?

As I look back at the auction I won it says 5 business days processing time from the receipt of cleared payment, so it's looking like it'll ship early next week.

And ebay said it is shipping today, so we will see how long it takes to get here from Europe.

Still waiting on mine.

No tracking.

ebay said it shipped the day after I purchased it, still have until 4.16.15 per ebay.

The more I watch these auctions, the better I think your deal was Mr. Kramer. Hopefully it arrives safely and as pictured.

My coin arrived today from Germany.

No customs or other fees. The final payment via paypal was total payment.

Very well packaged.

18 days from purchase to get from Germany to Ohio. No tracking info in the process anywhere.

Coin is great. The coin delivered is the one in the seller's pics. The porosity that really showed in the pics is difficult to see with the naked eye. Not seeing it in good light or under magnification yet, but really impressed with the coin. A rare instance where the coin in hand is nicer than the pics on ebay.

I will attempt some pics tonight hopefully.

Very satisfied customer.

Looking forward to seeing some pics!

I would love for someone to start a thread on ebay purchases and dealers who are trusted...I still feel lost on ebay and scared to make any purchases!

Anyone want to head that up?

It looks like I need lots of work on my pics.

Hand held, poor lighting, poor angle and on my droid phone. Some quick editing in Irfanview. Contrast, brightness, a crop, and a compressing of the file size and here they are.

I will get some better pics to share. It seems the Savocca pics were of great quality and showed every little imperfection. Very happy with the coin I received vs the pics used to make the purchasing decision.

Beautiful day here in Ohio. Amazing what a little good light will do for some pics. Here are better photos. This time I am not on Bobby's server, same droid, hand held (though I braced the hand), better background, and fantastic sunshine.
