Been spending a lot of time on ebay lately and I think I have found something interesting. The US Dollar is way up and inversely the Euro is way down. It is down over 22% the past 12 months. http://finance.yahoo.com/echarts?s=...linear%22%7DSo if you are buying stuff priced in euros and paying in dollars, you are now paying 20 percent less than last year. Coins are a great medium to leverage King Dollar. I found two dealers that are both on VCoins that are selling on ebay and priced in Euros. Right now they have 1,200+ auctions up all with really low starting prices and roughly 5 - 8 bucks shipping (converted to dollars). Savoca Coins seems to combine shipping while Dionysos Numismatik does not. Check for yourself though as I just bought my first coin off either dealer late yesterday afternoon on ebay. You bid in euros, but paypal pays in dollars so you get the discount on the purchase price and the shipping. Here is a link with the two dealers. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Coins-Paper...LH_PrefLoc=2I purchased this Greek Tetradrachm yesterday all in for $186 US$. Lots of auctions coming off this afternoon. My coin funds are limited, but as a man with some Viking blood in him, I wouldn't mind helping lead a numismatic raid with my fellow Americans on the Europeans. Let's bring back some treasure boys. http://www.ebay.com/sch/Coins-Paper...LH_PrefLoc=2Edited by BuckeyeCoinGuy 03/21/2015 12:41 pm

I noticed a few weeks ago when I was looking on vcoins that the coins listed in euros tended to be cheapers (in dollars) than I'd expect. I wound up picking up a very nice Postumus for really cheap. I'll have to poke around ebay a bit. Savoca is a good seller, right? I'm pretty sure I've heard them mentioned positively on here before.

999fine, that Marcus Aurelius coin is 18 millimeter in diameter. An inch is 25.4 so call it 3/4 of an inch.
Weight is only 3.34 grams, a troy ounce is 31.1 grams, so basically 1/9th to 1/10th an ounce troy.

I heard of Savoca through a few threads in the ancient forum. All discussion was positive, but a fake can get past anyone. They did have a few complaints of fakes on ebay even. They seem to be well thought of though. The other one I haven't read much on, I do know they have a store on VCoins also, but that is all I know. Great coins all starting with a one euro price and fairly low shipping considering the distance and amount of government employees that need to handle the package to get it half way around the world.

I wonder why the Euro fell so drastically? Any ideas?

The greek debt to the rest of europe and russian export embargo. The Northern europe countries have a strong economy, the southern part of europe hasnt. Europe isn't a union like the USA.. we all have our own rules and habits!

I will tell you what Europe does have over the USA, beautiful women everywhere. Not just some good ones, all of them and they are everywhere.
I was in Germany and the Netherlands a few years ago and actually started thinking about looking for a job when I was there.

Prepare your digital ones and zeroes representing the US Dollar, King Dollar, these auctions are starting off in just about an hour. Here are some that have drawn my eye. My bid, perhaps we will see. I am in a raiding sort of mood. Moesia Istros Drachm Eagle Adler Dolphin 4,68 g / 18 mm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Savoca-Coin...em3cf504000a An hour and a half to go and we are at basically $64 US$ delivered. I like the two faces, one upside down. I like the eagle and the dolphin reverse even better. Great coin. Antoninus Pius Denarius Nike Victory Angel 2,99 g / 17 mm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Savoca-Coin...em3cf5040d20 Call this one yours at $32 US$. Still an hour and a half to go. Gotta love the winged Nike on the reverse. Lucania Metapontion Obol Incuse Barley 0,43 g / 11 mm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Savoca-Coin...em3cf5041e8e This one is for the beer drinkers like myself. Incuse barley, enough said. About $102 US$ right now with an hour and a half to go. If it were cheaper I couldn't say no to incuse barley, but I bought that Tetradrachm yesterday and blew most of my coin wad for the week so I will sit here and drink beer and watch the auctions, and my Buckeyes vs Arizona in the NCAA basketball tournament and enjoy myself. Good luck in the bid / raid.

All of today's auctions are ending within the next hour and a half. Some really nice looking Roman silver denarius (denari?) here in about 40 minutes. Nothing expensive, but some really sharp looking ancient coins like this one. Gordianus Antoninianus Caesar Altar Kaiser 4,02 g / 24 mm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Savoca-Coin...em3aa4f5ab8b $23 and it is yours, $8 of that $23 is shipping and then you can combine shipping on other items. This seller has about a half a dozen varieties of this coin all going for 10 - 15 US$ each right now. Better auctions tomorrow honestly. Two dealers are both at it and the second one has some really high quality stuff.

Man, I am tied up with two ( expensive) coins at it is. If you keep tempting me like this I am going to have to sell an arm and a leg.

Not to be a 'debbie downer' but I would assume that educated bidders are aware of the value of the Euro since it has been plummeting for awhile now.
All of the final prices seem to be in line with what I would expect for the respective types. For example, the Gordian III total price ended up being $30 which is about what I would expect to pay for a super common, average grade coin of this type
