Longer term forum readers know my collecting passion for honestly circulated coins ... in particular the many year search for circulated classic commemorative.

I'm pursuing multiple low-ball sets ... including the Barber half dollar.

Therein lies my absolute best ever lowball purchase ... an ebay auction for two Barbers ... 1895 and 1896.

I judged both to be FR02 based on the sellers photos - purchased the lot in auction (5 other bidders) for $23.50 including shipping.

Received the grades back from the wizards ...

1895 Barber half dollar - PCGS PO01

1896 Barber half dollar - PCGS PO01

Both are now Pop 1/0 lowballs ... from the same ebay lot. Amazing.

Nice picks! The thing I find interesting is how wear patterns can vary so greatly on two coins from the same series.

Outstanding. I concur with the previous comment that the differing wear patterns are interesting, especially as the net grade works out the same.

Oh, the stories those two halves could tell us.
