I been reading that I should keep aside all pre 1982 cents. What is the point of this beside the copper. Is the coppe worth a lot? I have a ton of cents before 1982.
Thanks

I'm not really sure of the exact copper compostion but I know that it is "more pure" than the copper cents that we have now adays. Just to put it into perspective it now costs about 4 cents to make a penny because of the copper. So just think how much it must have cost to make those cents that are pre 1982... The only point beside the copper would be either the date or the mint mark.

I use Conflation . com and use the base metal & silver value calculator. I use it as a guide and it often has good articles to read. As a newbie, it has been helpful for me to learn the different metal contents.

I am keeping them, both for searching and in case we can eventually sell them for melt. Right now they would be worth more than Two Cents apiece. Even if it would take 5 years, I will take 10% on my money. How exciting, $123.00 in cents times two.........wow, I'm getting rich?

If you don't want to save them ...don't.
You really don't HAVE to.
I'm saving them so if you don't, that will leave more for the rest of us.

ebay # 160173529055 $50 face in pre 82 lincolns....$125.49 plus shipping. $50 bags of pre 82 Lincolns regularly bring $100 on ebay, double your money. Search for " penny sorter" and see the machine that does it for you.
