Aside from the Proofs and Silver Proofs, of 1999 and 2001, there really aren't any rarities in the State Quarters. The State Quarters all have high mintages.

Also as with most other coins, a 180 deg.
die axis rotation (rare) is worth a premium.

Any rotation more than 15 degrees is rare on State Quarters, but it does happen.

Humpback Bison is a very nice die break.

Look for missing clad layers, struck on wrong planchets, and clips.

Look for Major Die fills and Major Die cracks. Sintered planchets also get a nice premium.

Off centers and broadstrucks are out there but will be found by a counting or sorting machine before it gets to you.

Shaft.
I was lucky enough to find in circulation a 2004 wisconsin extra low leaf quarter in grade ex-fine. If you go to the CONECA WEB SITEhttp://hermes.csd.net/~coneca/ you will find more hope this helps.

Bruce.
