I was going to post this in the canada section but it's more or a US problem. I find lots of canadian coins in machines from quarters to toonies.

I'm trying to brainstorm ways which I could trade these coins for Candian nickels which I'm attempting to collect by date. I'm not particularly looking for old nickels just any beaver nickels haha.

I probally have almost $10 saved up in canadian from the last month. I live in the Midwest but the border is like five to six hours away from me. I do go up to around Detroit about once a month but it's a hassle to go to Windsor just for a few rolls of nickels haha. Any ideas or places in the US that would trade with me.

The coins I have our circulated crap mostly from the 1990's so most collectors wouldn't be interested. Magnet and reject bin fodder

I was looking for a tombac beaver for quite some time, to complete a nickel type set 1922 - to date.
I eventualy tracked one down in MS62. That was about 10 years ago. My son has the set now.

Very interesting series for me.

first I would suggest researching the coins you have, there are some worth money try coinsandcanada.com this is a great resource site.

some ones to look for 1991 quarter, 1992 caribou quarter, 1997/1998 quarters, 1985 pointed 5 penny to name some. these coins all sell for a goodly amount.

as for trading you can post a list on here, but if these are all circulated coins that have no specific numismatic value, then I don't think any Canadian is likely to need to trade with you.

You could save it up and come north for a vacay,

Wish that could happen by me. I haven't seen a Canadian coin for a long time now.

There are some touristy places near Detroit that accept Canadian currency. Do you think they would take canadian coins if they take payment in canadian at a exchange rate? Or do those tourist shops only like Canadian bills? I only have experience with the ones on the canadian side that accept US. Particularly my mom likes shopping in franklinmuth, mi. It's a big tourist town that caters a lot to Canadians haha.

The exchange rate is about 30% now so I don't think the stores are going to take that change.
