Just picked up my first capped bust half. Any opinions on grade? Also, what do you think a fair price paid for this would be? Not sure if I overpaid or not, since I have never bought one before. I know she's not the prettiest but I like it! Thanks in advance

Thanks! that would be nice if it was worth even close to that, as it cost me 57 bucks.

For $57 you got a steal! Normally this coin would go for around twice that.

Nice example of a VF-35, IMO.

Fascinating and important, if common, variety. It's O-106, a transitional Large Date, Small Letters variety with the obverse used in 1833 and before and the later reverse. Look at the badly-blundered overpunched 4 in the date, and the almost equally-blundered left stand of the M in AMERICA.

I have no problem with VF35 for this one. The clasp is untouched, and the shield still sharp.

Bought at a....nice wholesale discount.

I'll agree with VF-30 to Vf-35. Nice color too.

$57! Wow, that's a steal! I'm still sticking with XF-40, but I would say SsuperDdave is a better grader, so trust him more than me ;)

Maybe I'm just not a TPG guy but the fancy plastic really doesn't add anything in this instance.

I wouldn't worry about slabbing it. The Bust Half buying demographic isn't set on slabbing, and frankly an ICG slab isn't too large an asset in the marketplace.
