I recently acquired a nice lot of patriotic tokens. In trying to identify die combinations I realize that I need help doing it correctly as I have no Fuld book. If someone could help me out on the id's it would be greatly appreciated. There are six tokens so top to bottom would keep me from being even more confused than I am.

To make it easier on me, I numbered your tokens.

First one: I believe its Fuld 225A / 327

Second: 233 / 312

Third: 214 / 416

Fourth: I think you have used the obverse image from #6 here

Fifth: 81 / 351

Sixth: 237 / 423

Here is a good page for images/research:

Cointagious ... You've acquired some attractive patriotics there. Although relatively common varieties, the Monitor pieces tend to demand three or four times the amount of most R2's and R3's, given their popular subject matter.

IMHO, it would be worth your while to purchase copies of the below Fuld booklets. They're lightweight and can easily be taken to shows. I used mine as checklists. Despite the fact that they are now over fifty years old, the patriotic book will help you ID more than 98% of the CWT's you're likely to encounter. Also, it has some useful tables that help ID some of the more pesky dies.

While not as inclusive as the patriotic booklet, the storecard booklet is useful to determine the more rare towns. It won't much help with ID'ing varieties, but finding one rare town will make owning this booklet worthwhile.

Happy hunting ...........

Fuzzy I have corrected the obverse image #4(still need the die numbers)and thank you for identifying the rest. I had tried to use slabbed tokens for identification and the process was so slow and pictures were poor many times. Thanks for the info Exo and I may end up buying those as they are reasonable and fill a hole in the research books I have for use.

I can also recommend checking with the Civil War Token Society and their reference book section here:
http://cwtsociety.com/books.html

These are up to date references and contain Die-A-Grams to help you work through some of the harder tokens to attribute.
