Hi all, seeking opinions on this one. One day I think it is a mint error, the next I think it is post strike damage. Save it, throw it back, save it, throw it back. I can't decide...

The damage to the edge is pre-strike. I'm not sure about the incuse, straight, parallel lines. In any event, the pre-strike damage is rather interesting.

Now I would have thought this was post strike, because the rim turns inward by the "A"? But the die flow falls over the area next to rim. So Mike is correct and I would have been wrong.

Am I right in thinking if the paralell lines were pre strike tho then the letters of pluribus would of been fully formed still and they are not...

Those look added to me. They are on both sides of the coin.

The lines are what keep throwing me off. The edge looks like it happened during the strike, but the lines almost like it was clamped in a vice.

Outstanding photos, ndgoflo!

Are the lines parallel to each other from obverse to reverse like would be expected from clamping pressure in the jaws of a vise?
