I'd say this was definitely heated up somehow right? Doesn't look natural and never seen toning like this,any of you?  *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Not natural and my vote is either heat or chemicals.
What gets me is the reverse doesn't exhibit the same properties as the obverse. Maybe it was face-down in a puddle of something for a bit?
Regardless the "toning" is kinda cool.

To call that toning is stretching the definition -- and more than a little. It's out-and-out damage.

I'm with everyone else here....unnatural. The question is what did they do to only effect about 70% of the obverse?

Slambass I agree with you but I wouldn't call it toning though more like PMD for sure!

My guese is dog urine. I find pennies like this around trees and parking meters.
