In today's TCNC auction, I had my eye on what is advertised as a Newfoundland 1870 5 Cent Obverse 2 - the first known example. Being a NFLD completionist, I fought hard for it but eventually let it go to a proxy bidder due to doubts as to its attribution. My question; is this in fact an Obverse 2? The Obverse 2 has no dots on either side of 'Newfoundland' but this coin has a dot to the left, which doesn't correspond to any of the three recognized obverse varieties. Included is a link to the lot. Hopefully I dodged a bullet in the form of a mis-attributed coin.

Plugged die and typo is far more likely than a unique obverse on a well worn coin.
