Hello, my name is Dusty and this is my first post. I recently inherited this interesting seated liberties watch fob (I think!), and I was wondering what you folks might know about it regarding its value, coin grades, etc. Any information at all will be very much appreciated.

A very nice fob indeed. It is not often one finds a piece of coin jewelry from this period where the coins are mounted in such a fashion where they can be removed. The dime has sustained pry marks and hits on the rim that would affect its numismatic value. The quarter is a slightly better variety in higher grades and the half is a common date in this grade. So, specific grades of each are irrelevant. Overall value in this case is actually more than the value of the individual coins as a piece of jewelry. My estimate of value would be in the $75.00 - $100.00 range. This is not an offer to buy.

Expect this post to be moved to the Exonumia section which the section it should be in.

Now all you need is the watch and you're ready to buy a ticket for the Rock Island Line (it is the road to ride, according to Leadbelly).

I'd recommend keeping it together. Very nice item.

Very neat! The dime caught my attention since it has little wear especially compared to the other 2 coins.

D0ubl3Eagle, yes! They seem to have worn "in order". Half is worn most, quarter somewhat less, and dime hardly at all. I've been fascinated by this since I was a kid, as I've had a lifelong fascination/obsession with the Civil War. Its not going anywhere, but I'd like to insure it if it's worth insuring.

Very nice piece of jewelry! This definitely has much more value as a whole, than piecing them out. The Half and the Quarter Dollar are quite worn and won't sell for much more than their silver value, which is less than $20. The dime is better, although it is not a real spectacular coin. For the amount you may receive for this item, it may provide more sentimental value for you than you may realize by selling.
