I came across a 1996 100 dollar bill which is an error note.

The "USA 100" strip is on the right side instead of the left and the picture of Franklin that is normally on the right side when you hold it up to a light is instead on the left hand side.

I was wondering if anybody has seen one of these before and if they have or have not but have any idea how much it would be worth?

The bills condition is fair. There is normal wear and tear with folds on it, possibly worse than average wear and tear for a 1996 bill.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Welcome to the forum!

I have heard of this type of error.

I'd suggest searching the currency auction records at Heritage.com for auction sales to get an idea of value.

As always, value is dependent on demand, rarity and condition.

Neat find!

thank you westernsky!
yeah it was a lucky find as well! I was actually paying for my car wash with the bill and the cashier put it up to the light and said she couldn't accept it and explained why and I was so happy that she didn't lol now I have a note error that I will likely hold onto for years (unless its worth something outrageous haha).
Thank you again, I will check out the auction records.

Price will depend on condition. I have several of these. They are all AB prefix, which I presume yours is also. Post a pic
if you can. A decent XF+ should retail for $200-300.

Is Franklin upside down in the watermark? Are you sure it is not a $5.00 note that has been bleached and a $100.00 note printed on it?
