It's R.5 Doesn't really matter though, cause it's a Fugio! Ben Franklin designed it personally! Ha!

Die clash reverse is pronounced. Don't have my references immediately available but PCGS F15 seems about right. Strike weakness is evident. From memory, could be a W reverse.

There is something spiritual when you see those 13 rings on the back followed by "we are one".
It's like a pearl jam song.

It appears to be a Newman 22-M which like you said is an R.5. As far as a sharpness grade, consulting the EAC grading guide I can grade this coin no higher than VG-8. That's not taking into consideration the planchet damage which was probably in the planchet before the coin was struck. As a net grade I'm going to give it 7- (Yes, VG-7 is an actual EAC grade) Fugio 1787 Newman 22-M R.5 8/7-

Just received my latest lending books from the ANA today and the Newman Fugio book is in the box, I will have to put the book to good use tonight using this example as the first one to compare to his descriptions. The Newman Fugio book is on my list of wants but at $100.00+ for a copy I figured I'd rather borrow a copy for a month and put the money towards maybe getting my own Fugio like ScottK did.

Well, there is no denying that you are really into Fugio's, Scot. I like them too. And that is a nice example you got there. I would agree with you - as many other would - that there is something about these coins. F15 is probably at the top end of where I would grade it, probably more like F12 in my opinion. But who cares. Nice coin!
