Hi guys, I need some help with this one. I know it's in a segs slab so let's just get past that. My dad bought it a few months ago on proxibid because it's his birth year. Thing is I can only find the one he bought when googling it to find others. Is it a known variety? You would think with pitting like this there would be others slabbed by the big 3 or at least info on it somewhere? Thanks for the help!

That is something that affected the strike. No variety. A poor attempt to say it was a blockage of the devices in that area. Not a plus for the coin. Definitely not a MS-65. That would have reduced the grade a bunch. Often time a pitted die is a die that has rust on it and leaves the surface uneven on the coin. A case of buying the coin and not the plastic is so true. A proof coin would have been a better coin for him. I like the 50's & 60's Proof coins.
They just have a look I like!

On the other hand, that pitting would make a Morgan into an added-value subvariety.

Thanks coop. he buys bullion and I'm coins which is rubbing off on him. It was a cheap impulse so I didn't knock him for buying it.
