Our local coin club sponsors a show every year which features maybe 25 dealers. We attract around 500 attendees over 2 days and sell enough raffle tickets to fund our club activities for the year. Our guests report that the prizes we offer are the best of any shows they attend and I wonder what other clubs are putting out. Anybody else involved with putting on shows, and if so, what are your prizes like?

Usually we have $20, $5, and $2.50 USA gold coins as first, second, and third prizes respectively and this year is no exception. Here are the pieces we will offer:

I must say I'm rather shocked at the prizes, most clubs stopped using double eagles years ago. I'm also surprised you can sell enough tickets to pay for the prizes and also fund the club. Would seem to me that would take nearly 3,000 tickets and that seems awfully high for a 25 dealer show with 500 attendance.

In my area we typically do a half eagle (Liberty head), a 1/10 oz AGE, $50 cash (I dislike doing cash prizes), and ASE's for 4th - 10th prize. (If silver is down we may switch to common MS Morgans.) Ticket sales are usually around 1500 - 2000. This is for 75 dealer shows, I don't have attendance figures.

I would be wowed by a prize like that haha. You must live in a wealthy area. May I ask how much you charge a ticket? That might be the difference . A $10 per ticket raffle gets you a lot better prize then say a $1 raffle etc.

Our club has a gold coin - usually the equivalent of a quarter eagle for first; some proof sets for second; and lesser mint sets for third prize.
