SilverDon Pillar of the Community Canada 2360 Posts	Posted 04/04/2015 2:22 pm Is that a die crack (or scratch) going down the back of the hare? A Doubled Rabbit is listed as Die Deterioration as well, a die crack would not be out of place. The beads are totally messed up on that nickel. Look like fried eggs. I would say Machine Doubling, looks like some flat field doubling as well. steve123 Pillar of the Community Canada 805 Posts	Posted 04/04/2015 2:52 pm SilverDon, yes the face from the nose towards the top of the ear is double along with the start of the next down the right forepaw. Also, the scratch looks like it started as a die crack but it seems to merge into a scratch (maybe just a coincidence that it was scratched to meet with the die crack).. Here are a few more photos... SilverDon Pillar of the Community Canada 2360 Posts	Posted 04/04/2015 2:58 pm Nice looking nickel, lots of oddities. I thought the die crack was leading into a scratch. If it is raised above the surface of the coin, you should be able to feel it, proof of a die crack. It must have been double struck to get that amount of doubling. A slight shift in the planchet or die prior to the second strike, just thinking out loud here, not an error expert. Report this Post to the Staff
