I have had this nickel 3 cent all my life and was wondering if it had any value, being as some idiot (not me:) drilled it. without the hole it is AG cond. putting it at around $400.00 (why do I always get the gems:) but I was checking around and is it possible with the hole that is still could grade at Fair ? and if So, would anyone know the premium if any ? In case we have some math folk out there, the exact size of the drilled hole is (get this) Really... 11/128th in. or .0859 I kid you not. a 3/32 drill bit was way to big to fit in the hole and a 5/64th would of had to be really twisted around a lot to have made it the size stated. i'll get a few pics. of it and post. but just curious in the meantime.
Thank's

Post some pics when you get the chance, but in the mean time if it's an AG then it's AG. Since there's a hole in it, it's a damaged AG. I guess that it might be net graded by some as a fair, but I don't really like that. So you have a damaged AG. As to the value, it depends what someone wants to pay for it. It's probably not going to be worth nowhere near $400 but I would guess that around $200? Prethen is the 3CN expert, so he might be able to give you a more accurate guesstimate to the value.

you may be able to have the hole professionally repaired and bring it up a few bucks but with the hole you may still get from $100.00-$200.00 but that is just my opinion. I have a few but none with holes but I know that they sale even after being holed Gary

BH, without knowing the market very well on 3 cent coins, I can only state that if you listed it on ebay, it WOULD sell given its rarity. I can safely state that only one of the top TPGs would grade and slab it (ANACS) as a damaged coin; the others would bodybag it. I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of it if you could upload it. Fred

Oh Well !! after closer inspection, seems to be a 65 not an 85. do you agree ? i never gave it a second thought 40 yrs. or so ago to examine it closer. sorry for the false alarm. even at fair cond. period, premium dropped about $195.00 :)right church wrong pew...
