Police: Man Tried To Open Bank Account With Fake $1M Bill

POSTED: 9:18 am EST November 27, 2007

AIKEN, S.C. -- Authorities said a bank teller in Clearwater had a million reasons not to open an account for an Augusta, Ga., man.

Aiken County Sheriff's spokesman Lieutenant Michael Frank said 31-year-old Alexander D. Smith tried to open an account on Monday with a fake $1 million bill.

Franks said the employee refused to open the account and called police while the man started to curse at bank workers.

Frank said Smith has been charged with disorderly conduct and two counts of forgery.

Authorities said the federal government has never printed a million-dollar bill.

Do you think the man actually believed the 1 million dollar bill was real?

being from a small town in N.C. and being one that has been to Aiken S.C. many times I would have to say "Yes, he probably thought it was real". Aiken is a very small town and education isn't high on the list of priorities there (atleast the places in Aiken I delivered to when I drove a tractor trailer). It is like a small rural town you would see back in the 50's where you would have to walk 10 miles to get to the neighbors house

Edit: I just noticed the guy wasn't actually from Aiken S.C. he was from Augusta Ga. So what I said above probably doesn't matter much in this c ASE
