This is my neighbor's bill and she'd like some info on it. History, rarity, value, stuff like that. Thanks for any replies!

These 1928 bills used to be redeemable in gold coin. Look in the top left of the note. Usually the value is determined on the condition, and I'm not a professional grader, but what I will tell you is to not spend the note. It is worth more than $20. As far as the rarity, I think that alot of these notes were destroyed by the Federal Government when all the American's had to redeem all their gold for U.S. Dollars after the depression becuase of the lack of paper money. If instead of a G, there was a numeral 7, it would be worth more. I'm not sure why, but that's just the way it is. But I would definately hold onto it.

This note is worth about $30.00(Per "Paper Money Market" Magazine Oct. 07) in F12 condition. It is certainly a keeper as you don't see many in circulation these days. In XF40 it would jump to $50.00. I would grade this note at VF20. Mike
