About a month ago I won a coin on ebay and promptly paid via Paypal. After two weeks I had not received the coin so I emailed the seller. He did not respond so I sent another email a week after that. When he didn't respond to the second email I opened a dispute with Paypal. Now another week has passed and I still have not heard from the seller. It has been well over a month since I paid for the coin. Should I go ahead and escalate the dispute and let Paypal hash it out?

You have already waited longer than I would have. Two weeks with no response would have been more than enough for me.

The seller has taken your money and gone dark on you. It has been more than thirty days, so escalate now! I recently had to work through a paypal dispute for non-delivery of an expensive coin. I escalated the dispute after 30 days, and everything worked out well. I would advise you to be polite but firm in asking for an immediate refund for non-delivery. You can read about my experience in this thread. Good luck!

This seems to be one more example of problems caused by the feedback system. For fear of getting bad feedback we wait way to long to push a bad seller. Push and push now.

Jim1953 - I'm not concerned with feedback, I don't sell on ebay and already have a few retaliatory hits against my good name. I just want to be fair.

I would escalate and do not buy into some sob story about how you are freezing his ebay account and he can not sell on ebay, do not lift the dispute until you have the coin or are refunded, I learned my lesson and am out $80.

Last week would be a good time to escalate.

Just as a follow-up:

I filed a dispute with Paypal. After 7 days the seller didn't answer and my money was refunded. Obviously I left negative feedback. It is now over 2 weeks since the refund and the seller just left me positive feedback today. Go figure.
