Perhaps not the typical ebay scam, but here's the situation.

I bought a proof set where shipping, handling, and insurance were listed on the auction page at a total of $6.00. The invoice sent from the seller, however, charges $7.75 for shipping AND an additional $2.75 for insurance. I've sent 3 emails requesting an adjustment to the stated $6 cost, but the seller keeps resending the original invoice.

Next steps, anyone? I know it's only an extra $4.50, but I just don't think what the seller is doing is right.

I would send ebay a notice that he changed the terms of sale and now wont complete it if you don't pay more than what he agreed to in his own description. It might get him pist off but he will scale down to the $6 total and may I suggest using paypal as to protect your money. He might get pist off and send an empty box so if you use paypal you can dispute it and get your money back more easily.

The other option you have is to agree not to complete the transaction and refuse to pay completely or until the seller corrects the shipping. That is totally wrong what the seller is doing and it should be reported. Buy your proof set somewhere else- it's not like nobody is selling them. The seller might neg you as a result of this, which would be wrong, but that probably will happen.
