I need your opinion as to if this is a fair price. I am looking at a $5 1934D F1654. Clark-Snyder. STAR note. PMG 65. for $495. Is that a fair price?

A little high in my opinion. The last Wide I star that sold in PMG 65EPQ sold for $350 in April 2014.

It's a little high, but I'd go for it IMHO.

I don't have an opinion on the price (others here are far more knowledgeable on that) but I do have an opinion on the note itself -- it's a beauty.

The note is beautiful but the price seems a little high

It comes down to;
Do you want to collect as a hobby (and purchase what you like reguardless of price), or
Do you want to purchace for Investment Only (and hope to make a profit when you sell).

I purchase what I like.
