I just saw Bobby's post of the coin show in Chico, CA and it's 177 miles, 3 hours drive from where I live. I am just wondering how far or how long did you drive to get to a coin show (flying doesn't count)?

The farthest coin show I went to was about 60 miles, 45 minutes - 1 hour drive. It's the Peninsular Coin Show in San Jose.

I live in Brisbane, Australia. Coin shows of any kind happen here once, maybe twice a year.

The next nearest cities/towns that have coin shows (that I'm aware of) are at least a day's drive away: Rockhampton (600 km, a tiny local show) and Sydney (1000 km, two major shows a year and a couple of smaller ones. I've ever been to any outside of Brisbane.

Air travel 19 hours layover time 11 hours car trip 3 hours
total time to get to the coin shop 33 hours + I lost a day traveling across the international date line

I went from boise idaho to Las vegas NV for a coin show last march. There is only one show in boise every year so I made a 550 mile drive about 11 hours. I might be driving further this year going from Boise to Arizona for the ANA show this year.

I travel to Petersham (Sydney) from Yass about twice a year. That's a 3 hour run there and 3 back. I probably spend about two hours there.

Have travelled to the Melbourne Show two of the last three years to get a Royal Australian Mint portable press $1. That's a 1600km round trip.

Each year I also go the Sydney Show to get the Sydney portable press $1. I spend perhaps 5 hours the show with the wife and kids (those that still want to come). Soon it will be the wife and I and hopefully the grandkid(s).

The Melbourne and Sydney Shows were (are?) primarily agricultural shows that have horses, cattle, dogs, cats, birds, farm produce. They are quite large and attract many thousands of people.

(are?) IMHO both shows have are a little commercialised, i.e., less emphasis on the agriculture and more on trinkets and side shows.

G'day.
I went to the Brisbane Coin Show this year for the first time.
(Iv'e only been collecting for five years.) It's 120 miles each way but takes 3 hours in the bus, I'm getting too old for city traffic!
regards,
