There are some new things pertaining to the Presidents on the US Mint website that I just ordered. There's a set with "all dollars" Sacajewea, Walking Liberty, and 4 presidents....... I ordered two. And there's individual proofs of each president.... I ordered two of each. Also a new set of P & D uncirculated Pres. Dollars I thought was pretty neat..... curious about the new packaging of the coins there too. A pres. and bronze spouse set is new too, but not interested in that.

I have already ordered everything I need from the mint for the year so I had not been to the site recently. All I can say is wow...

An overpriced $15 4 coin proof set turns into 4 $6 individual proof coins. I guess the sum of the parts is truly greater than the whole. I look forward to buying my 14 2008 individual proof coins next year.

Of all the new offerings I think I like the pres $ & first spouse medal sets the best.

You seem to be the target audience that the Mint was going after.
I guess the repackaging of the same coins over and over again really does have a market.

Don't you already have all these coins?

Was it the colorful individual packaging and the historical sound bites that caught your eye?

Twenty years from now I'll be willing to part with some of these "repackaged" sets and some may make good Christmas gifts for neices and nephews and family this year and in coming years, birthday's too etc. etc..... But yes, I've already got all of these coins whether it's uncirculated rolls from my bank or proof/uncirculated sets from the Mint. This stuff is really great for kids and heightens their interest in coins. I'm not in this hobby to buy stuff so that I can sell it in a year or less and try to double my money. I don't sell .......just hoard.

Nothing wrong with collecting(or hoarding) what you like. Everybody has different ideas about what makes something collectible.

It's also interesting how the ones people ignore or disdain when they are released are the ones they end up searching for in years to come.
