I bought myself an early Christmas present, a Dansco 7070. I already have 22 coins put into it. Now I need some suggestions as to which commeratives to put into it. I would like to keep the price for them under $75 each. So I need 5 suggestions and reasons why I should put them into my book.

Thanks.

** If this needs to be moved to the commemorative section, please do so.

For the fifty centers I put a toned AU-55 Pilgrim, AU-55 Columbian Exposition, and slabbed MS-64 Booker T Washington and a slabbed MS-64 Washington/Carver. The most expensive was the raw Pilgim at $75. The others were less than $50 each. They look real nice!

you can get the Statue of Liberty and the George Washington really cheap, they are both pretty common.

I have one hole left for a Comm. half in my 7070 and I REALLY want the Oregon Trail for it. I love that indian on that coin!!

As I do not collect these, except to fill holes for the 7070, is there somewhere I can look at all the commemoratives together rather than trying to look up each one individually?

collect4fun,

www.harlanjberk.com has a large selection of classic commems with pictures for your one-stop viewing pleasure. Classic commems actually circulated to an extent for some issues so they can be found in EF-AU and be affordable. As as an added bonus, all of the classic commems are silver, whereas most modern half dollar commems are Cu-Ni clad. In addition to the ones okie-colin listed are Monroe Doctrine, US Sesquicentennial, and Stone Mountain.

Can someone tell me where the anti-spam question and answer are so I can email someone privately about a commemorative coin?

Stone Mountain commem. all the way! Hey, it's a great looking coin with a tie to one of the most interesting times in this country's history and I live there. I like this coin by itself and the fact that I live there puts it over the top as my favorite!

Ok I bought my first commemorative, a 1893 World's Columbian Expo silver half dollar in AU for $15.00.

I agree with the Stone Mt., I do like that one as well.
Rest in Peace

The Red-book has a nice picture gallery of all the Half Dollar Commemoratives. I have begun to take an interest in these lately as well. There is a large selection available all though some are very pricey. Let us know what you decide to do. I think this an interesting and excellent question. Mike... By the way, I like the 1925 Stone Mountain. The 1918 Illinois Centennial, the Oregon Trail(stunning!) the Hudson New York and the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Opening....not in any real order. Again a tough question! This series may be my next attempt at doing a set.

I put modern commemoratives in my Dansco7070 where most people put classic Commems in theirs. I just didn't see any reason for 5 different slots for the same type of coin and the need to spend more on each of these than I did on alot of the classics that I have elsewhere in the album. The ones I chose were pretty much random and actually had no merit to why they are in there except for me just liking the designs on the coins them self

I never thought about looking in the RedBook, but yeh they are all there. Giving a quick look I really like:

**Battle of Gettysburg.. I have visted the battlefields several times as my brother lives nearby.
**Oregon Trail Memorial
**Statue of Liberty Dollar
**Mt Rushmore

I really like the 2008 bald eagle half dollar Commemorative that is coming out in early 2008. I've only looked at the pictures on the usmint site. They're not out yet, but I really want to get one.
