Any help with this coin, I cant tell who is on the coin ?, this coin is located in north Africa Tripoli Libya, and was found by a friend in a military bunker near a place called Tickbally, also near (L e p c I s Magna) or Leptis Magna, an ancient city along the Mediterranean Sea, located near the modern day city of Al Khums in Libya, The first photo if you can see, there is like an empty spot near the nose and the mouth and in the 3rd photo it looks normal, that's because of the lighting from my camera. Any help with this coin

The exact type isn't listed in any of my catalogues or online sources, but the Punic legend on the obverse seems to read "LPQI", which is closer to "Lephki", the Phoenician name for Leptis Magna, than any other city in the area.

On the reverse, there appears to be a club crossed with some kind of animal - the closest match in the catalogues is a bronze coin with crossed club and thyrsus. The "animal" looks piglike to me; probably the Erymanthian Boar, which according to legend was captured by Hercules (hence the club).

Sap Thanks buddy.
Who would you guess is on the obverse ? And On the reverse I think your right it dos look like a Erymanthiane Boar, at first I thought it was a porcupine, Sap If you have any other info that you come across pleas keep me up to date and posted.

Sap, I have deleted the photos, the reason is from possible counterfeiters. Do you think that was a good idea ?

I don't think leaving the pictures there will do any harm. Counterfeiters, of either the "tourist type" reproductions or more precise forgeries designed to fool collectors, normally work off of genuine coins as models, rather than photographs.

Certainly places like Wildwinds, CoinArchives and FORVM don't see a problem with maintaining a huge database of publicly accessible coin pictures.
