Armed robbers walked away with an estimated 7,000 ounces of gold, worth $8.5 million at current prices, from a Canadian-owned mine in western Mexico.

I guess that's the risk of doing business in Mexico.

I like this "The crime is being vigorously investigated by the Mexican authorities," yea right

The authorities can't even get paving the roads right. I'm sure the local government leaders got their percentage and let it slide, that's how business is done there. Sinaloa? Forget it. That gold is gone forever.

And just what are they going to do with nearly a ton of partially refined ore?

This isn't like gold bars that you can just melt down or take to a refinery
