I have what is supposed to be a Canada 2010 silver proof penny.
How can I be sure that is what I have besides a magnet?
Is there a difference in the weights?

There is no such thing as a 2010 Silver Proof Penny. You probably have a 2010 penny plated with silver or another type of metal.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought you were talking about a US coin!

I havent heard of one either, maybe it was not copper plated or has been plated over the copper.
Lay it beside other coins and other silver then preform this test..http://www.coincommunity.com/collec...sue-test.asp

Another example here the silver coin stands out.

Sorry but I don't believe that there is a silver 2010 penny. At least not one produced by the RCM.

There was one in 2012 - in the 5-coin farewell to the penny set and the 'pink' one in the 2012 special proof set.

Where did you get the 2010 and why do you think it's silver? I'd suggest that it's a post Mint enhanced coin; likely plated.

You can buy them on ebay as a set plated in gold, silver, pink & copper.
I bought a set for my grandaughter who collects coins.

That also may be why I couldn't find anything earlier.
Due to the frosting it may be specimen cent silver plated.

I emailed the seller and his reply was "You are right. That is my mistake by copy and paste.Thare is no silver pennies in 2010 proof set.
Thanks"
I did not pay too much for the coin and it would be a pain to return it . With the reply he gave my email what kind of feedback should I give the seller since the coin was not as described and I was
paying for silver ?

In your case you could do a couple of things...

1) Ask the seller for a partial refund that would be a fair price given it's not silver.
2) Open up a case where the item is not as described and ask for the refund of your full payment AND return shipping.

If you really don't care about the price you paid... I would question why would you worry about the feedback as well..

Feedback is supposed to be honest and describe how the transaction between two strangers went. If you felt the transaction was good say so.. if you felt it wasn't .. I would say that as well...

People make mistakes .. and that's okay.. but are they willing to correct their errors that's another issue. So far I see no attempt at correcting the error.. so I know what I would say. But I'm just a sour lemon today...

Good luck for all of your choices.
