Awesome find coop. That's the kind of double die I'm looking for :/ . Where do people buy these unopened mint rolls are they rolls you have had since the release or ebay or other?

These were mint sealed proof nickels. I had to cut them out. I found another DDR that is so much like this one (but not as strong) but it is an earlier die state. Sweet looking coin also. It is listed as a $40 coin iv I have it attributed correctly. Total of 8 DDR's. 4 are the same but are minor. I still list them in my files and keep track of them in case someday They do get listed. I keep track of the doubled dies on Excel. I have over 400 doubled dies and over 500 RPMs That are all from different dies. The extras are listed together, so there are 900+ dies represented.

I do a little searching on ebay for deals on proof coins. I search for rolls of these put together for sale there. If they are over priced? Pass. If they are reasonable, I move to the next step. I check to see what he is selling. I open his sales page and do a search for "doubled, variety, RPM, double die" to see if he is into these or not. Then I look to see if he is selling rolls of these that are broken up. If they are in tubes that is great. If they are in cello, that is often better. If he is offering free shipping that is also money that will make the purchase a better deal. On one purchase there were so many toned coins I saved a lot of them in 2X2's rather than put them into the tubes. So I figure out what I would pay and then start buying or passing on the ones listed. Searching is the most fun. Identifying is a lot harder. But if I make a multiple roll puchase of different years, I put the one roll away after it is searched. Not mixing the rolls (because they are different dates) look up the ones identified and find a match. If there is no match them I give them a coop-## with a catalog of markers and rim scratches. (proof coins have rim scratches that can be used as markers) They are raised lines that are from the collar/die. I sort them to find out how many dies are in that batch. (sometimes up to 4 in the same batch) Catalog them, then put them in a 2X2. I know some will never be listed, but I save them anyway. My favorite years are the 1960-1964 cents and nickels. They just look the best to me.

When you are finished searching do you ever re sell the rolls or do you horde rolls of coins? How do you store all of them and preserve them at the same time?
