I am looking to buy this 1890 CC Morgan dollar. To my eyes the coin looks ok, but I am by no means an expert on Morgans. Does this coin look alright to you?

Looks like a genuine G-6 coin.

Yep, this is a genuine Morgan. How refreshing. I agree that it appears to be problem-free as well.

Looks good to me. I'd say VG-08.

Mind, albeit a Carson City coin these aren't terribly rare especially in circulated grades. I wouldn't go as high as US$100 for it, probably rather less.

SuperDave is right. 1890-CC is the highest mintage from Carson for the Morgan series. My gut feeling is $80-$90.

CDN (greysheet) does not have prices for grade of good. Starts at VG which is Bid $80 Ask $88
But as was posted this is a common Carson City in lower grades
I feel a dealer would buy this at $55 ... For a VG. Less for a solid good.
I would use these numbers to decide on how much I would pay.
I would feel comfortable at $60 to $70 ... A little more if I really wanted it.

GR58 has it. This is a nice original coin, something I'd consider "good at the grade," so it's worth your pursuit. The only detraction is that small cut at the base of the tailfeathers, which is in a location I suspect a couple posters in this thread never saw. I think, for the record, that this is VAM-9, the only "Near Date" variety for the issue. This is only added-value if the information is of value to you.

Thank you all very much for your help. I now have a good idea of what to pay for a coin like this.
