Hello all,

I was looking for some general advice on the matter of shipping coins internationally (particularly to the UK) via ebay.

Up until this point, the few sales I've made on ebay I have restricted to the United States to avoid any potential headaches involving customs and customs forms, and because the value of those items didn't justify the increased shipping cost.

But now there is a certain coin I need to sell that would likely realize a much higher value if made available to an international audience. However, the prospect of shipping overseas is daunting to me, and I'd appreciate it if someone could walk me through the process.

For example, what sort of customs form would I need? Does ebay provide them if an overseas buyer purchases my coin, or would I have to go to my local post office to fill it out? What sort of information do I need to put on there?

Thanks

From my experience if one uses ebay shipping to print the postage it automatically prints the customs form info (as well as the item description and purchase price) which may not appeal to some buyers.

If you send them through ebay international you are only liable for your package until it reaches ebays sorting facility in Kentucky... If you ship yourself, I used to only ship priority international because first class had no tracking options and a user could simply say they disn't get it. It does now and I haven't had a problem using fits class. If value is excessive I would ship regersterd international. I have used that to ship many thousand dollar plus items to Europe with no problem

With customs forms... first class mail is one simple label... priority international prints 4 labels, you sign all 4 and put them in a pouch label so they can be taken out by the appropriate people along the way... it's quite easy!
