So how can you tell when it's NIFC? Just S mint mark or are there others and how do you tell?

1970D, 1987 P + D, and 2001 to date are NIFC and only available from mint sets, mint rolls, and mint bags.

2001 was minted to the tune of 20 million or so and readily found and often ignored.

The other dates are 2 million each mint and much scarcer but not all that valuable due tot he fact that most are in MS condition and saved.

I think I have about $1K face of NIFC which will slowly be let go in stores soon.

Sweet, thanks jack jeckel, I've gotten tons of 2001, and a 2002 but have never seen a 1970 or '87.

I thought 2001 was the last circulated year for halves and 2002 was the first NIFC to go from?

I wish I could do as many as some of you. Lucky finds you all have. If only I didn't have to spend the ones I get before getting more since I have no bank that just exchanges boxes in this podunk town.

That is a really nice pic of that clipped. I wonder if it was upset clipped like that or got clipped after upsetting?
