I'm in a black hole for halves, only tried a few boxes over the past year, I got a 1968 a while back, that was the oldest so far. The newest I've found is a 2001. today I picked up 2 rolls for the heck of it and got this... 2000 S, it's toned worse than the picture shows and it's not silver but heck I'll take it.

Is there anyone CRH in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? I have gone through 9 boxes in the last 2 weeks and have only 1 40% to show for it. Was just wondering if the area is mined out or just a dry spell?

2 boxes today. 7 gold plated, 2 silver plated, 1 BB gun, 1 electric engraver, and 3 40%ers. I think the plated ones were someone's science project or something as one of the silver plated is a casino coin with all of the reeding peened off of it. If a company was doing it and selling them I would hope they would have at least used decent donors first.

Littlebirdy8 - not in Texas area, but 1 in 9 boxes is not unheard of at all. heck, some peoeple would kill for 1 in 9 boxes if on a 24 box dry spell.

@Jack Jackal,
Your post on the ANACS graded halves struck on quarter stock was very helpful. If I recall correctly, I have at least one nice one which meets this category. I knew the weight was different, and it felt different, but I would never have thought it to be on quarter stock.
Now I will have to go and retrieve it.
Thanks for the post.

If the two I have turn out to be the quarter stock type, I will post a picture of them.
Once again, thanks for the information. I was not aware of this type of error before your post.

Montana here and I have found so many marked halves it's not even funny... but... $150 in halves, from the same bag as the 2000-S, no one else seems to be hunting in my area now. I only wanted a few rolls last week but he had to get a whole $500 from the vault. The teller I got them from sold them to the other tellers and spread them out, so when I got them a few hours ago, this teller had to buy them back from other tills. And this Boys and Girls is how you get an ounce of silver for $1.75 , the only premium is gas and time. I still think I'm coming out ahead. 2 dimes= 0.1447 troy ounces of silver in 2 silver Roosevelt dime2 1964 JFK Halves= 0.7234 troy ounces of silver in 2 silver 1964 Kennedy half dollar1 1965 JFK Half= 0.1479 troy ounces of silver in 1 silver 1965-1970 Kennedy half dollarSo that is $1.70 for .9436 ASW... but the funny thing is... .0564 is what I'm missing to make up a full ounce and by a weird coincidence there is 0.0563 troy ounces of silver in 1 silver War Nickel. I still have not gotten a War Nickel this year (some nice buff's thou) but ONE more silver find puts me over an ounce for the year and it's not even 1/12 done 1964 1964-D 1965
