You just have to find a bank or credit union with a coin counter and ask if you can buy bags. It's hit or miss. I have several banks in my area that let me buy bags. I also have several that won't. It really just depends on who you ask that particular day and what kind of mood they are in.

Shadz, I'm right there with ya. I have gone through 10 boxes of halves now and have found nothing.... Tonight's box was the worst ever....all super worn coins, no reeding left, beat up junk. I could understand a box or two....maybe five, but 10 boxes and nothing?!?! Is it possible my bank's currency vendor is sorting the silver out?

I appreciate the offer arby, but it would be like buying it. Anyone could do that, but finding one out in the wilds/

"Let's get our hands blackened and cramped fingers while we search through these boxes and see how long it takes the coin roll hunter to crack, crickey!"

Like the Steve Erwin of coin finding, it has to be done yourself for the true pleasure of it, with all the risks it involves.

I thought maybe that the partial box that I think was dumped that I looked was searched out, but then how would it have been a full box, the bank didn't do it, and then how did they miss some things I kept, unless they just don't know what they are looking for.

I know it was a dump because it was only 71-2001 in it, and knew it wasnt my old coins I spend being deposited because all the String & Sons wrappers were clean as well the Brinks wrappers. I always mark the wrapper with the year and mint of the coin if a complete roll, or a red X. Still found bicentennials as well and I haven't begun spending them so I know there is always something to say that I haven't seen EVERY coin in the box yet.

I find it hard to believe that one branch of Brinks or Wells Fargo would search for such things and others like arby and jack getting godly boxes from the same places/ I think it is just location. My location has had a silver hunter for 20 years now because she does it with her business in a way to get halves to look through. We just have to cause something to happen that will shift coins from one area to the next so that the silver float to the top for us. Box #7 for me comes Friday and I am hoping for hole fillers, which almost any 90% would be as I only have 1 Franklin and I think a Walker, and the odds of getting a duplicate of them is rarer than finding another 64-D or non.

Finished a roll of 1982-P today at least and now must check for the whole no-FG thing on them. Might be the only thing making it worthwhile now but having a roll of each coin that less that 20 million exists means I have 1 millionth of them. May not seem much at all, but makes the poor feel like they are playing a rich man's game, which is really what coin collecting started out as anyway for many in the beginning.

I have asked for bags at several branches of a large bank that have coin counters. I have two that will sell me as much as they get. I just got a bag of halves from a third bank. Several of the branches with coin counters would not sell to me, so I made them dump banks. It takes a lot of work and luck and good relationships to set up, but it is a great way to hunt

I have been on hiatus from CRH the past month or so (newborn son)- the last 2 weeks I've been itching to get some rolls, but haven't had the time to stop by my main bank. I had to make a bank run today and didn't make it to the bank I usually pick-up at- so wasn't able to get rolls or box. I asked for halves and the teller said she had just gotten 1 dollar in halves... The top one was very shiny (1776-1976 D- I'd say it was uncirculated besides roll mark) so I figured I was out of luck, flipped to the 2nd and it was a 1967... not bad for a quick walk to the bank. I'm back!!

I picked up 4 boxes yesterday. I only had time to search 2 of them last night. I found a 1980S proof and about 80 NIFCs. The majority were 2009,2011 and 2012. Hopefully I'll have time for the other 2 boxes tonight. I did manage to get a 1969 from a teller tray

One of my banks forgot to order last week, but I managed to find a box at another bank. I found a '72-D No FG, '74-D DDO and an NIFC. Another bank had $9.50 in loose halves, one of which was a '68-D. I heard it when it hit the desk as she was counting them out.

I've done two boxes this week, the first was a total skunk, no silver, no errors, no NIFC. I think that is the first box I've ever had where I had exactly 0 keepers. The second box had several NIFC and a "Support Our Troops" stickered half.

I'm up to six boxes in a row with no silver, which could have been 19 in a row except for a lone 40% in the 13th box.

I should have two more to pick up tomorrow, here's hoping for something better than what I've been seeing.

Cracked open 4 boxes, started them yesterday, finished them up this evening. 3 were skunks for silver and 1 box yielded me 3-40%ers. So out of the 4 boxes I also pulled 3-74D DDO, 1-74S Clad Proof, 2-holed coins, 3-NIFC, 1-05D, 1-07D, and 1-12P. I also pulled a fun coin, I call it the 74D Long R. The leg of the R runs under the U. Its not a die crack, I think its a gouge. I will get a picture up tomorrow. I know its not a error coin but I think its cool. I have 8 boxes I still need to open and 4 more to pick up tomorrow. I think I am a bit over my head this week, the wife has me planting shrubs the past two days, I'm a bit behind. They need to put an exhausted smiley face on here.

Here is a pic of that 74D Long R, Also correction to my last post, I pulled 1-90%er and 2-40%ers, it is better then I first thought. Maybe Kickstand R is a better name.
