Cbass, that is an incredible amount of proofs in one bag, someone must of dumped a collection all at once. Sweet find, too bad they were no silver proofs in there. Congrats on a nice find.

Thanks Arby. I am trying to determine (and I guess I will never know) whether they were a coin collector who had found them and got sick of hoarding them or whether someone broke apart a bunch of proof sets. Many of them look like they were circulated to some extent, so its hard to say. Since I found no silver, I am leaning towards coin collector, but on the other hand, since there were many consecutive years for a long time period it kinda makes me think someone dumped a bunch of proof sets. The bag had been on the coin counter for months, so its been a while.

i got the bag of dimes and the bag of nickels from the machine as well, if someone broke apart a bunch of proof sets, I guess I will know because the nickels and dimes should be there too. follow up on that later.

CoinCbass, Good catch of coins! Like I said before, when people need money you do what you half to. It would break my heart to do that, again. Started boxes on June, results are: 8 boxes = 13 90% and 22 40%. My bank does save stuff for me = 1 90% and 19 40%...Good month, July hope will be better. Total hip replacement July 3rd, will keep you up to date.

Went to 2 Banks.

Bank One had $ 1.50 in halves - Netted 2 - 90%'s and 1 - 40%
Bank Two had $ 4.00 in halves - Netted 1 - 90%
Overall very happy.

I wonder how big the stack of silver would be if we added up all the silver halves found since the beginning of this thread?!

Finished my last 6 boxes while on vacation:
1-1965,
1-1967,
1-1968D, and
1-1969D
plus a few proofs (mostly impaired),
and a couple rolls of NIFC.

Overall, I was disappointed with the fact I found only 7 silvers in 12 boxes, but I LOVED the fact I was able to deposit the coin using bags...First time ever. When I deposited them, the coin vault manager told me he had some large dollars, so I bout $51 worth of Ikes...No silver, but I appreciated it and believe I may hear from him when he gets older halves and more lsrge dollars in the future. He told me an older person brought in ~$200 worth of old halves a couple months ago, but he sold them to someone who asked for halves since then, UGH!

Hopefully, he'll call me when more old halves are deposited!

A $1000.00 bag of halves yielded no silver
in fact it was $4.00 short.
All I found a car wash token and some bent dimes
and a few pennies.

I just received 6 rolls that are almost exclusively 2007 and 2008. I know done of you guys save anything 2003 and newer, but I can't remember why. Is it mintage numbers? Or do they only make halves for mint sets now? Should I keep these?

2001 or 2002 and later are NIFC. they are still business strikes, but only sold as rolls by the mint and not put into circulation anymore because so many still exist, and the mintage is something like less that 4 million for each so one year they will be scarce.

There they are!

JFK-Half-Dollar-Roll-Hunters:-Silver,-Proofs-And-Other-Finds

The first row are 2007P, middle row are 2008P, and the third row are 2008D.

So would you keep them or set them free?
