CoinsRus, $7500 worth of silver for over $10,000, I don't that is a good gamble. I don't think the odds are very good in pulling the money coins (key dates). How in the heck does someone get their hands on boxes that old. Can you imagine going to a bank and them selling you boxes of Half dollars from that time frame. It would have to be a small town bank still doing business that has a bunch of boxes stashed back in the corner of a vault. What a dream that would be.

I'd keep the nicest 2007 and 2008. They are among the growing number of key dates.

I'm amazed this thread has grown and lasted almost 7 years and is one of the most popular threads on this forum. Thanks to all for posting and keep those great finds coming!
On the flip side, I think I shot myself in the foot by over-popularizing silver hunting in halves, because I now have not found a single silver piece in 2 years in my area.

Mycrob you can't all the blame youtube is where I saw that silver was still in circulation, I was hording pennies at first then I saw youtube videos on all the people finding silver, and thought what the heck I would give it a try. It was the best decision I have made. I just wish I had started sooner.

Finally got a $10 roll of halves at Suntrust Bank today (halves are basically non-existant in my area...banks have to order them). Bad news...every single coin is one of those 1976 bicentennial varieties. The coin roll itself looked rather ancient, so it must have been a piece of someone's collection.

Went to the bank today to pickup 4 boxes and they had 6 boxes for me. That was nice, somebody ordered them last week and didn't pick them up so they sold them to me. I cracked into 2 of them and both are skunks. Dang that's 10 in a row with no silver, These 2 didn't have anything. This is also the longest streak without any proof coins too. I knew this day would come, I was just hoping it wouldn't happen so soon. I should be able to crack boxes tomorrow, no plans for the 4th, wife is working, grandkids will be out of town. Hope this skunk streak ends soon. I know a bunch of you had much longer skunk streaks. I am such a whiner.

4 boxes today. Finally got a decent score. All boxes had at least 1 silver. Box 1 had 2 enders. 7 40%ers and 2 Walkers including a beautiful 1942 Box 2 had 1 40%er and a silver plated 1976. Box 3 had a 1971D ender that looked like dirty silver and I thought jackpot especially since all my finds always seem to be roller damaged enders so why should this one be any different Turns out it wasn't silver but in the roll was a bent and bb gunned Franklin. Ended up with 5 40%ers, a Franklin, and a Walker Box 4 had 6 40%ers and 2 Franklins.

Hip replacement went find. Will be grounded for two weeks, than back to the bank. They are getting 2 boxes a week for me. Will have a late start this month, but I hope I'm in the older boxes. Bank said I'm the only one that they get halves for, and I return them to a different named bank. This way I hope I don't get same ones over again, will keep you updated on my success.

After two years of doing this I have had two firsts this month. I finally found a 1976 silver clad. Last night I found my first Canadian half in a roll and it was silver a 1960. It was in a customer roll that they had at the bank when I picked up a box The box was a skunk but the cwr had the Canadian and four 40% halves. I would post pic but forgot how to do so.
