4 boxes.
Box 1 skunked.
Box 2 had 1 ender. Most of the coins were what I would call "gritty" felling. They had a scum layer on them and they didn't slide off of each other easily like most coins do if you are holding a stack of them. I have encountered this type in the past a few times and speculate that they come from water fountains that people throw coins in. And as nasty as they are you usually find silver when you get a box of gritty halves. Ended up with 8 40%ers.
Box 3 had 1 40%er.
Box 4 skunked.

Nice find a nice semi-key date 1949D nice pull. Puts my 1956 golden toned Benjie to shame in terms of rarity.

Quote: Six more boxes yielded this 1949D AU Franklin 3 proofs and a 1987p Nice finds! I would have loved to find that 1949-D! About half of Franklin half dollars came from roll finds, but that was not one of them.

Slim pickings, but one is better than none. Hopefully your next four boxes are more productive.

trapper, that is an awesome coin, congrats! I did good again today, 4 boxes with only 1 skunk. Box 1: skunk Box 2: 1954d*, 2 x 1964, 2 x 40%ers Box 3: 3 x 1964, 1 x 40%er Box 4: 1952, 1962, 4 x 1964, 6 x 40%er *was an ender so 21 coins, 12 being 90%ers, 3 of which were Bens the 2nd pic is 2 1964s next to each other in the first roll of box 2, which also had the franklin ender. And here are 3 rolls that had 2 coins each

I occasionally pick up a box of halves (going through one now) and I usually get some not-intended-for-circulation halves. Why are these in circulation? Do people really bust up mint sets and cash in the half dollars? Do folks buy them from the mint at a premium for that year and then later spend them as 50 cents? Are kids breaking into Dad's collections for smoke money? Yeah, I save the NIFCs.
Still looking for my first CRH proof.

Box 24 skunk. Last week of depositing at a different branch before doing so at my pickup bank. Will have to get what they have in their coin counter before I add mine to it.

Now that I have things worked out and another dump bank, I'm ready to get back on my normal 6 boxes a week. Hopefully I'll be able pull some silver and other nice coins. First four for this week will be in tomorrow then 2 more Thursday. I hope there's more keepers this week than last, when out of 2 boxes the only keeper was an impaired proof.
@ Silverstacker Kid, nice hit on the 40%'ers. @ Trapper, very nice '49. @ Skibdib, nice pull on all that silver!!
Hope y'all left some silver for me.
