I thought everyone here would find this mildly amusing.

I was in a new bank the other day, and of course asked for any half dollars they had on-hand. The teller serving me did not have any, although she was able to procure a couple from a different teller. After she brought them back, she proceeded to stack 4 half dollars tails-down on the counter.

A quick glance at the coins appeared to tell me that there was nothing of note contained within the batch. So, I thanked her, collected the coins, and left the branch.

As is my custom, I examined the 4 coins in greater detail once I was outside. I quickly found out I was entirely wrong about the absence of silver from the group!

I've never seen a 40% silver coin that was so similar in color to a 1971-present clad half dollar.

Wow - that is shaping up to be a megascore, JMBPGA22! What are your counts for production for the last few weeks in your search area? Are you looking for dimes and quarters too? It seems like there are some collection dumps in your midst too.

Stopped at a bank close to the eye doctor, same bank where the teller had and gave me 1968D last time! So I ask about silver half's, she says no, pulled out 11.50 and it looked like at least one silver edge! Other tellers had some more, $16.00 total plus 1 Eisenhower large dollar for my wife! There was a 1967P and a 1971 S! Not bad, my local bank called and said my single box was ready! So early tomorrow I will get my fix! Webekin

Second four boxes for the week were better, 1 skunk, Ended up with 1-53D Bennie, 3-67, 2-68 and 1-69. had two enders which are always fun to find. Also pulled one of those Gold Plated 1960-1980 Kennedy's, stamped on a 83? Someone probably paid $10.00 for that coin or a set of two. Smart seller? not so smart buyer? How many would I have to find and save to get an ounce of gold off of them? I bet a bunch. LOL.

I picked up my 2nd pickup of 2 boxes of halves today, the lead teller that orders them for me was put for lunch, she had said she can order as many as I want as long as I don't bring them back, of coarse I wouldnt do that... the manager of the branch was the one who waited on me, as she brought the halves to her station she asked what business is this for? And I said it's for personal use, and that my family and I enjoy looking though coins for our collections... she asked what I did with all the unwanted ones and said do you take them to another branch? I told her no, I give them away as gifts and spend them and when I don't have anymore, I order more, but actually I take them do a different bank not a different branch but a different bank altogether. She said ok and then proceeded to give me a small lecture about how ordering boxes like this cost the bank money.... and wanted to know if this was gonna be a weekly occurrence? Although I would like it to be, I told her no maybe once a month or so. She said ok, I was unsure how to take her comment, not sure if she was curious about it or was afraid I would bring them back or what and I'm thinking of only ordering once in a while maybe once a month to 6 weeks instead of on a weekly basis like I planned on doing... does anybody know how much ordering boxes actually costs the banks? Just curious to know... I guess I will try to find a a few more branches that will order then so I can rotate ordering so I don't burn my bridges. I did open the 2 boxes and looked for enders and appears to be 3 proof enders, I was really excited to get these on a weekly basis especially cause the first 2 boxes produced 3-40% and a commerative and several NIFC, and since these boxes look decent from proof enders I hate to lose them as an ordering bank. I'm only gonna open a few rolls per day to make the fun last a bit longer, in the mean time I will look for another bank that will order halves so I can rotate ordering. Maybe I will ask another branch of the same bank in the area and hopefully they get coin from the same source, And I guess I will keep ordering them on occasion till they flat out tell me no more. Does this sound like a logical plan?

CoinRumbles, I had one bank tell me they would charge me $7.50/box of halves, which would be $0.15/roll, to order half dollar coins though them. I've also been told the same ($0.15/roll) for depositing a large volume ($500) of ROLLED halves at another bank. Obviously, I no longer order or deposit coins at the aforementioned banks.

Last four boxes for the week and only one lonely 67. Trapper sorry to hear about your 8 box skunk, but to see you pull 10 pieces of silver from two boxes is great. I did 12 boxes for the week and pulled 8 pieces. I miss those days where I was scoring in the high double digits. I have to continue believing my next big score is just a box away. I think that is what keeps all of us going. I need a couple of Mega Rolls! Good luck everyone, hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Keep Stacking!

Yes if I could pull this much out of every 2 boxes I did I'd be tickled pink.
