I do not understand why I'm finding so much silver
Is this a sign of how bad the economy is getting and people are dumping more or is it just luck on my part?

Addendum

Family 403-B account down 2.1% today.

Maybe good for future silver hunters

Trapper, you are for sure in a hot area and are slaying it. I haven't seen numbers like since 2014, I truly hope those numbers continue for you. Keep sharing your pics because that gives me hope I will soon hit something good sooner or later. I have been a bit frustrated because I haven't been able to break my 90% goal for a couple of months. Congrats again on the awesome numbers.

Trapper, I wish I had at least a tenth of the luck you have. Especially now that it seems I'm getting more and more marked halves than ever.

CrazyCat, congratulations on your first proof! My first Kennedy proof was also a 73-S, but in worse condition.

Trapper- you are one lucky hunter!

Went through 2 boxes yest - no silver .

But I did find 26 proofs in one box and 38 proofs in the other box. Odd but I'll take it.

4 boxes from last week Friday: skunked except for 2 proofs one of which was a very nice 1986. I don;t know if anyone else has noticed this but 1986 is the hardest clad proof half dollar to find for some reason.

Chase forgot to order my boxes on Tuesday

4 boxes yesterday.

Box 1 had a ender. 2 40%ers.

Box 2 skunked. There were a lot of nasty grungy coins and one roll had a cent in it so I lost 49¢

Box 3 had a lot more nasty grungy coins in it but scored 2 40%ers in one roll. Also found an Elvis stickered.

Box 4 had 2 rolls worth of NIFC and another stickered. One roll had a nickel so I lost 45¢

Things were really slow here again this week. 6 boxes produced 1 40% 1868D, 5 clad proofs 1 1973, 4 1986, and as I recall 14 2002-date NIFC. 2016 year to date silver 113.6776 oz. Trapper, it's funny how things go in this hobby. A few months ago I was pulling multiple oz. of silver about every week, for the past few weeks things have really been slow around here. I'm hoping as the holiday season approaches I can get some of the coins people dump for holiday cash. Trapper, what region of the country are you in? I'm in south central KY. Just curious about your location since it seems you find more silver where you are that I do in this area. Arby also seems to have a better find rate than I do and I know he's nowhere near me. Jack I think we all have times when we receive short rolls or rolls with odd ball coins in them. Not been long ago I was finding several rolls with pennies, nickles, quarters, dollars instead of halves. Bad thing is most were lower denomination, but a couple were gold dollars.

Question.

If I place an order for a box of halves, do I have to purchase the whole box? Because I want to be able to search halves more often (the banks that have them restock halves about once a month) but have nowhere near the money to buy entire boxes.

That's something you'd have to take up with the bank. They might allow you to order a box and get them a few rolls at a time or if you don't get them all and someone else comes in wanting halves they might sell them to that person. If the bank will allow it and you have a hundred dollars to buy coins, buy $100. worth search them, dump them then go buy more the same day or next day. I do 6 boxes a week with a $2000. investment. I buy 4 boxes on Wednesday search at least $1000. worth before Friday, dump them and pick up the other $1000. worth that day. By Wednesday I've searched the other $2000, I dump them and buy another $2000. worth. Over the last 1 year 10 months I've probably searched about 1/4 million dollars worth of halves on a $2000. investment. It doesn't take a lot of money with this hobby if you use your money wisely. I could search a lot more boxes per week on the same $2000. if it wasn't for overloading my dump bank. I'm sure I could easily do a couple boxes a day. My dump bank doesn't seem to mind $3000. worth a week, but I'm afraid if I went crazy with it they might cut me off. Searching $3000. a week is better than being cut off and not being able to do any.

My last 6 boxes of the week yielded
1,40% with nail polish on it
1,90% I almost missed this one the edge was very dirty
good thing I check dates and not just edge search.

Guess I've been lucky, so far I haven't got a box short on rolls. A couple weeks ago I thought I'd got my first one, but I had picked up 2 boxes and both had been damaged in shipping and were taped shut on the ends. I opened one of them and it only had 49 rolls, but when I opened the other box it had 51 rolls, so I know they just picked up the rolls that fell out and put them in the boxes not checking to make sure they had the correct number of rolls in each box.
