Big7, a question please.
I've seen sharpie marked halves on more occasions than I can remember, and I'm curious as to why. Is it to see if you get your own back? Is it to "mark" territory?
Me, I'm a counterstamper when time permits. I do that to see if I get my own back, and if they end up being reported here or elsewhere on the net.

I am pretty much doing it to see if I get my own coins back. Another reason that really drove me to do it was that the bricks guy said I was just getting my own coins back. Which has not been true. I just started CRH two months ago and am in a fairly small area. Even though I am in a small area I have yet to see my marks.

Awesome scores guys, Love seeing them, I really like that double headed Half Skibdib, Up for a trade? I have the tool to open it, its called a bang ring, you can purchase it on Amazon. I have done coin tricks for years and that is a necessary tool one needs. Trapper if you still have yours and are interested in a trade please let me know. I don't have one of those. Got 4 boxes on Tuesday since they forgot to order last week. The boxes got delivered by Loomis, came in glued shut Loomis boxes, and came in Loomis branded wraps BUT they weren't yellow. I thought maybe these were sitting in the back of the vault for a few years and they used this color before I started roll hunting. But after going through the first 3 boxes with no silver I began to think maybe Loomis got a new silver culling machine and they changed to color of the wraps to indicate as such. Then I found a few coins I had dumped in march, April, June, and July so I know they are not old (see kids, that is why you mark coins  ) I did find 1 40%er in box 4. Also found 2 proofs, a 1910 British large cent, and 2 rolls of NIFC.  |

My last 6 boxes for the week yielded better than I thought they would. Most of it came from 2 boxes, another box had 1,90% & another box had a 1,40% and 2 boxes were skunks. Also found another 1986S statue of liberty commerative proof. There was no enders Going fishing in the gulf of Mexico next week so I will not be looking at halves until next Thursday. arby, my counterstamp is my initials, DCM, and a serial number. The number is serialized per date/mintmark. If for example, you score a 1974 half with DCM and 80 on it, it means that it's my 80th 1974 half that I've marked.
I don't mark the Bicentennials or the NIFC coins, though I would be tempted to mark a NIFC if it's beat up/has signs of lots of wear.
I'm in Tucson AZ.

I've been searching 2 boxes every other week for a while with good results but last week was awesome.
2 boxes and I ended up with 121 %40 halves. Most were unc.
I would post a pic but I have no home computer anymore and I don't think I can do photos from my phone.

Try an iPad you can do it from your phone you just need to utilize the image optimizer so it will fit the size requirements to post on here.

arby, I will prob keep the half. I got it open, and it was only glued inside, there was no treasure or surprise. At that point, I kinda wished I had not opened it. oh well had to do it haha. good luck to all this week,
