I looked through 8 boxes while on vacation and found 5, 90's and 16, 40's. The last 4 boxes held the silver, and as a result, were among my best boxes ever. I realize these finds pale in comparison to others here, but I'm very satisfied!

Better than my typical boxes. Mine almost always are skunks, or 1 40%.

4 boxes from Friday.
3 40%ers, a proof, a roll and a half worth of NIFC, and a chrome plated counterstamped.

So I went to the bank today to cash in $50 worth of pennies I had over the news year. The teller asked me how I wanted it, and I asked them if they had any half dollars, which is what I usually do. The woman said the next teller did, but not many, but she thought there were some in the vault. She asked me how many I wanted. I asked for what I could buy...$170. So she goes to the vault to get the rolls. While I am waiting, I notice the other teller opening the coin drawer a time or two, and I saw the halves. They had the real silver shine to them...not what you're used to seeing with regular change. Sensing a good thing, I asked him how many he had. He said he had $2 worth. I told him I'd buy them. I whipped out a fiver and when he got the coins, they had the sweet silver ring! I got the halves, got my change and waited for the rolls. I knew at least one was silver, so I went all poker face and just waited. Soon, I got the rolls, thanked them, and left. Once outside, I checked, the halves I bought from the teller...all $2 were silver! Two 1966, one 1967 and one 1969! I started checking the rolls...duds here and there, but more silver came our here and there, too! I couldn't believe it! The third to last roll was the icing on an already great silver run...it had a Walking Liberty ender! I finished the rolls up and couldn't believe my luck, with this final tally: -Walking Liberty- 1 - 1945 -Kennedy- 2 - 1964-D 1 - 1965 3 - 1966 1 - 1967 2 - 1968-D 2 - 1969-D I went back to buy more and I bought all I could, but there were no more. I am not much of a half dollar hunter, but once in a while I buy them, and times like this make it really fun.

OK, 2016 totals are in. December ended up being the least silver recovered out of any month, but I also only did about 75% of my avg number of boxes, due to holidays and work travel.
total searched: 550 boxes 269 x 90% (2 barbers, 33 walkers, 78 bens, 156 x 1964s. 967 x 40%
avg # of silvers per box: 2.2473 skunks percentage: 51.81% total from boxes of halves: 240.33 troy
adding in teller tray finds, war nicks, dimes, and some foreign, total is 259.01 troy for the year.
just cracked the first 4 boxes of the year. 1st box had a bender and a reverse ender.
box1: 1 x 53d, 3 x 40% box2: skunk box3: 1 x 40% box4: skunk
time to start a new page of statistics for 2017. Good luck to all this year, and nice job with all of the 2016 finds!

I picked up 2 good boxes yesterday. I bet there is a lead and a tail box that is sitting at some other bank. I miss the good old days of getting 4 boxes at a time instead of wondering if there were more when you get a good box or 2. Box 1: 4 proofs, a 1964, a 40%er, and a gold plated. Box 2: 4 proofs, a 1998 silver proof, 7 40%ers, and a Twoonie (my 2nd)

Nice finds everyone!
Managed to find one 40% (1967) in about half of a box that my bank had. Sure am glad that I thought to ask for halves!

Berto, glad to see you got in on some silver. Always nice to see you get some when you're in the lower 48 since you're stuck up there in Alaska where there's no silver. Congratulations to everyone on their great 2016 finds. I picked up my first 4 boxes for 2017 this afternoon, but haven't started on them yet. Hopefully 2017 will start out on a good note. 2016 went out with a my last 6 boxes producing over 2 oz. of silver.

Happy to see everyone is still having good finds!
After a long streak of skunks, I finally found a few. Friday 12/30 I picked up 8 boxes and ended up finding 42 40% and 5 90%.
First 4 boxes of 2017 = 1 90%
I went into my dump bank with a self service coin counting machine. I had started to put some halves in, and after only 10 halves going through, the machine said it was full. So they called the maintenance guy over. I was wondering how the machine had filled up, since I hadn't used this specific branch before (it's across town from where I live). He emptied the machine and pulled out a clear bag of halves. I took a quick glance and saw a silver. So I said that one looked different than the rest and asked him if I could buy it. He pulled it out and gave it to me. I saw two more sitting on each other, and asked him if I could have those too, he gave them to me no problem. All 3 were 40%. I'm sure there were heaps more in the bag, but I didn't want to be a nuisance.
After finishing the dump, I went up too the teller and asked them if they would sell the bags of coin that come from the coin counting machines. They explained they couldn't because they have to send it to the Feds. She said they have some halves they could sell me, though. I bought them and ended up finding 4 40% and my first Benjamin!
That's the most excitement I've ever had on a coin drop off!
Good luck everyone, hoping everyone the best finds for 2017.
